Creating video with AI
AI video tools generate short video clips from a text description or from an image. OpenAI Sora, Google Veo, Runway and Kling are among the well-known tools in this field. They can give quick results for promotion, social media and concept drafts; however, producing long, consistent and flawless video still takes effort.
In brief
- Video can be generated from text or from an image; starting from an image gives more control.
- Ask for one scene and one main action per clip.
- Join short clips in an editing program; add text and logos there.
- Do not depict real people without permission; state that the content was generated with AI.
Note
This field changes quickly: the tools' clip lengths, features, country availability and terms of use are updated often. This guide gives general information as of October 2026; for details, see the official page of the tool you use.

Steps to generating video with AI
-
Choose the method: from text or from an image?
Text to video: You describe the scene in words and the tool generates everything from scratch. Image to video: You supply a photo you already have, or an image you have generated, as the starting frame and add motion to it. If you want to preserve the look of a product, a location or a character, image to video gives you more control.

Describe the scene like a director
In your prompt, state the subject and action (who is doing what), the setting, the camera movement (static shot, slow push-in, tracking), the lighting and mood, and the aspect ratio you want (16:9, 9:16). Ask for a single scene and a single main action per clip; complicated storylines give inconsistent results.

Generate short clips and join them
The tools usually generate clips a few seconds long. Make several attempts at the same scene and choose the best one, then put the clips in order in a video editing program and add music, text and a logo. Adding text and logos during editing gives a cleaner result than having the AI generate them.

Example prompts
- "A modern factory production line in the morning sun, robotic arms carrying metal parts, the camera panning slowly to the right, realistic footage, 16:9."
- "Steam rising from a coffee cup on a table, close-up, warm light, static camera."
- Image to video: "Use this product photo: keep the product in place, have the camera make a half circle around it and keep the background plain."
Uses
- Short videos and animated posts for social media.
- Cutaway footage in promotional and product videos.
- Background videos for websites and presentations.
- Quick drafts of advertising and film ideas (storyboards).
- Animating a process in training content.
Limitations
- Short length: Clips generated in one go are usually short.
- Inconsistency: Faces, hands, text and logos can distort from frame to frame; it is hard to keep the same character looking the same across different clips.
- Physics errors: Objects may pass through one another, and movements may look unnatural.
- Sound: Some tools can also generate sound or speech; this feature varies from tool to tool.
- Access and usage rights: The number of generations may be limited by your plan; some tools may not be available in every country.
Notes on ethics and copyright
- Do not depict real people without their permission; fake (deepfake) content raises both ethical and legal problems.
- State that the video was generated with AI; many platforms require a label for this.
- Do not use copyrighted characters, brands or music.
- Check the commercial usage rights in the tool's terms. Some tools add a visible or invisible mark (watermark) to the videos they generate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a video I generated with AI in an advertisement?
It depends on the tool's terms for commercial use. In addition, the video must not contain real people, other brands or copyrighted content, and must not mislead the viewer.
Why do faces and hands in the videos become distorted?
This is a known limitation of today's models. Ask for wider shots rather than close-ups of faces and hand movements; the image-to-video method usually gives more consistent results.
Can a long promotional film be made entirely with AI?
It is possible by joining short clips; however, consistency and quality still take a great deal of effort. AI clips are usually used together with real footage and conventional editing.
